  73. I didn't notice any noise when I used the cig plug. I also used 14 gauge wire
  74. w/o any problems. The 580 will put out 5w on 2m with 12V in. Another important
  75. fact to rememeber is that when the external power plug (located on the side of
  76. the rig) is used, the battery is not connected electrically to the radio. So
  77. your car can't charge your battery by using the plug. It's in the manual
  78. somewhere.

  91. I recently purchase a ALINCO DJ-580, it is a great radio. The quality of audio is great. I have no complaint about this rig.
  92. I got one question here, the menu stated the receive range for UHF is from 430 to 470 Mhz, but what I found is that I can make it from 400 to 520 Mhz.  I didn't make any modification on this rig, I don't know this is misinformed on menu? or .....

  239.    I outbid someone at our club auction for a motorola MICOM model
  240. L70SCC-1180AM HF ssb rig.  I took the silly thing home, and was lucky
  241. to find that I had crystals to get it going on 160, 80 and 40m. Of
  242. course, it's USB only, but I did manage to have 0.5 dozen QSO's on CW.

  244.    It seems that the RX sensitivity is down a bit.  Can anyone tell me how 
  245. to peak the RX?  How are the band pass filters selected?   Any

  269. battery pack was 8.4V, 450mAH.  The speaker-mic jacks are held in place

  318. FX-440. I have mine under remote control from my PC or a

  330. I am posting this because many people wanted a summary of what I found.
  331.  
  332. (Recall this is regarding low audio modulation levels using a MH-29
  333. mike with an FT-530).
  334.  
  335. It seems that the source of this problem is a combination of poor
  336. design and poor QC.  I was able to demonstrate that a different
  337. unit performed much better and was able to exchange my mike for
  338. a new one.  As far as the design problem, it was pointed out
  339. to me (see article below) that Yaesu had neglected to put a hole in
  340. the case for the mike.  I have verified this.  A bit of exploratory
  341. surgery showed that there were no paths from the backside either.
  342. The mike element is in a sealed chamber!
  343.  
  344. My suggestion:  If you have a problem.  Try another unit -- it
  345. worked for me.  Otherwise, you may have to resort to the drilling
  346. suggestion as described below. (Warning:  I take no responsibility
  347. for the contents of the included article.  Caveat hacker.)
